How to make first impressions last?

As the famous Harvey Specter once said: "Get it through your head, first impressions last".

So when you meet somebody for the first time, for example if you go to a job interview, you need to dress and act great. Here are some simple rules about how to dress and act:

1. Better over dress than under dress. This means if you doubt whether to wear a suit or a sports jacket, always choose the suit.

2. Make sure your clothes fit. This sounds obvious, however, when we walk around campus we see a lot of people who wear suits or jackets which are way too big, or small. A suit should accentuate your body, which means it can not be too small or too big!

3. Be yourself. Do not act how you think people want you to act. If you pretend to be somebody you are not, you will eventually end up worse than you started. Besides, most people will notice if you pretend and therefore might dislike you.

4. Be confident. You are great! Repeat that in your head 3 times. If you are confident about yourself, people will notice and like that. Remember, you are special and have special abilities.

5. Success is a choice. Successful people are more than lucky. They have probably worked very hard to achieve where they are now. So, work hard and be dedicated to what you do and most importantly: enjoy what you do!
